Dental Bonding

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure that aims to perfect and enhance the front teeth. If your front teeth are cracked, broken, stained or have gaps and spaces, bonding can be a great way to completely transform your look. Bonding is relatively noninvasive, as little to no anesthetic is required. Most bonding can last for upwards of 10 years before it should be replaced.

Why is Dental Bonding needed?

The reason you may need or even want bonding is because you want to transform your smile. You might have cracked a front tooth or chipped a small piece off of one of them. Likewise, you might have a large gap or space between your teeth that makes you feel self-conscious. Regardless of the reason, bonding is an easy way to fix your smile without the need for more invasive procedures.

Who is a good candidate for Dental Bonding?

Bonding is best for patients who have otherwise healthy teeth. We can examine the teeth to determine if bonding is right for you. Most patients who want or need bonding can safely have the procedure done. The goal of bonding is to improve your smile without the need for other treatments.

What happens during the Dental Bonding procedure?

We begin by slightly buffing out the tooth that will be receiving the bonding. We then apply a bonding gel to the tooth itself, as this helps the composite resin material adhere more securely. We color match the composite that will be used and place it over the tooth. The material is smoothed and detailed into place, ensuring that it looks completely natural. The composite resin is then cured with a bright light to ensure that it does not fall out of place or shift. You can brush your new bonding as you would your natural teeth and take care to floss around the new material.
